The trading side of two production sites

What we actually are

Most distributors who carry an own brand range buy it from two places. The paper comes from a mill or a converter, the chemicals come from a filling plant, and the two arrive on different vessels with different paperwork. Nobody set it up that way on purpose. It is just what happens when no single supplier covers both.

Millgate sits across both. That is the whole proposition. You send one specification set, you get one quotation, you raise one purchase order, and the goods arrive in one container with one set of export documents.

Where production sits

In Europe. Goods of Chinese origin arriving in the United States carry Section 301 duty on top of the base rate and ours do not. What that is worth on a given line depends on the tariff code, which is why we would rather quote against your specification than make a claim about it here.

How we quote

Off the spec, FOB. There is no national brand marketing cost in the line and no distributor margin between the mill floor and your warehouse. Where a line is made to order we ask for your target and build the quotation to it rather than guessing and coming back twice.

If a specification is not something we can run, we say so in the first reply. A quotation that arrives late because someone was working out whether it was possible is worse than a straight answer.

Who you deal with

One person. The specification, the quotation and everything after the order sit in the same place, not in a factory inbox. When a case count changes or a vessel slips, you know who to write to and that person already has the file.

How you are invoiced

By a US company, to a US bank, in dollars. The goods still ship from the mill. Only the paperwork on your side changes.
